Have you ever written a post on your blog about selling wholesale and actually making a profit. I have stores who want to order from me, but I can't figure out how filling all those orders at half my retail cost will actually be profitable. My items are very detail oriented and take a little time to make. I have thought about raising my retail price, but then I will alienate my customers.
Sincerely,
Does Wholesale Make Sense?
Dear DWMS,
I have touched on it because I was selling wholesale and I pulled out of my showrooms because it wasn't turning enough profit.
It is my opinion that in order to really make money wholesale you have to mass produce and boutique brands like ours have to be tweaked and mfg outside of the states to make that happen. Otherwise you have to be happy with small scale and producing in the USA. You may have to limit which items you wholesale or even create a separate wholesale line that is more economical to produce. Another option to explorer is multi level marketing, selling though home trunk shows and independent reps. I do plan to touch on all of this a lot more in the coming months as I take more time with my blog. Since I am pregnant I will be putting a heavier focus on the blog as I slow down kangacoo designs in the new year until after the baby comes.
All My Best,
Katie TFBM
